Green Light For Tallest Stratford Tower

Stock Woolstencroft has gained planning permission in the London Borough of Newham for what will be the tallest building yet in Stratford at 150 High Street.
Within the the proposals will have 1,017 square metre of flexible commercial space, a 6,256sqm 153-bed four-star hotel, 27 workspace units and 655 new apartments varying from studios to family sized four bedroom units of which 35% of the total will be commercial. There will also be 197 car parking spaces on site for residents with the hotel having an additional 20 spaces.
Developed for the Genesis Housing Group, it will stand on a 1.3 hectare plot on one of the key approaches to the 2012 Olympic site. Part of the draw for the scheme has been the canal-side location that the architects have worked hard on to turn into a new public space that will line the waterside edges of the development and act as a haven for wildlife.
The mass of the accommodation is hosted in a 133.1 metre tall tower rising to 41 storeys, the tallest building yet in Stratford by almost 50 metres, and an adjacent 44 metre tall block next to it.
This isn't the only scheme by Stock Woolstencroft in the area. They have another ten projects with a total of 3000 housing units at various stages of development in the immediate area including the under construction 160-188 Stratford High Street which is visible in the first rendering on the far right giving an idea of just how dense this area will be when all the proposals are built up.
