Coming out of nowhere is the launch of the Bezier Apartments in central London just off Old Street roundabout in the London Borough of Islington.

The 14 and 16 storey buildings will be residential and contain 200 apartments modeled more on hotel suites than traditional residential units. 45 of the apartments will be studios easily configured by the occupants with easily hidden kitchens and drop down beds.

At the ground level there will be retail and leisure outlets, the majority of which will be located in Tower Two on the area bounding City Road.

The towers have quarter circle floor-plates above their lower floors and will be noticeable for their curving frontages and balconies on Old Street roundabout and their tapering tops that gives them a distinctive egg-like appearance that is strongly defined by the outer structural frame. Topping both buildings will be wind turbines.

They are being developed by Tudor Homes, the company of Eamon Lyons who formerly worked for Ballymore and helped establish some of their early successes before heading off to set up his own company.

The first issue of apartments was launched on the 21st of February and construction on the site, formerly a school football pitch, is due to begin shortly with completion scheduled for 2010.

This whole fringe area just north of the City of London is a hot spot to watch with numerous other towers also planned for the area that have had varying successes in getting through the planning system intact.
