Hodder Associates Fade To Grey

Hodder Associates has had a planning application filed for a new ten floor apartment block to stand in central Manchester.
Working alongside developer Maryland Securities, they have dreamed up the 66 apartment scheme to stand on a site slap-bang in the city centre between Piccadilly Gardens and Great Ancoats Street directly overlooking Newton Street.
Restrained in its looks but resolutely modern, the rectangular scheme eschews glass curtain walls that are often so popular with new residential developments for fashionable dark grey brick cladding that frames the slightly recessed double height glazing.
Benefiting from this will be the apartment owners who should be provided with impressive amounts of natural lighting, particularly at lower levels.
Set alongside the glazing will be vertical strips of light grey panelling that contrast with the darker shades the brick employs adding a lightness of touch to the proposed buildings looks.
At the top of the building, the upper floor steps back reducing the bulk and stopping it from completely overshadowing the street and proving too out of scale with the shorter surrounding buildings.
