Paris is soon to add another tower to its steadily growing collection in one of its biggest business districts, La Defense.

The Tour Majunga as it is called is designed by renowned architect Jean Paul Viguier and to be developed by Franco / Dutch company Unibail- Rodamco, the tower which will house offices will stand at 195 metres or 45 floors and will give a total of 65,400 m2 of usable space when complete.

A rather funky design, the tower looks like it has three zig zagging sections joined together to make a shiny aluminium skyscraper sandwich. Spaced throughout the tower three atriums that will be visible to the passing public feature, one running vertically up several floors from near the bottom of the tower, another horizontal at the near centre of the tower and a final horizontal one near the top of the tower.

These serve to break up the towers façade which is glass and aluminium and would otherwise be somewhat oppressive without these as well as giving the towers workers and visitors somewhere tranquil to momentarily find respite from the stresses and strains of busy office life.

Despite La Defense seemingly becoming addicted to its curvy towers this one with its unique, sleek and kind of slim line appearance should hold its own and stand out from the crowd, although some feel the addition of extra height would allow the tower to achieve this more effectively. But even if this is the case the tower should still add variety especially when compared to some of the older more block-like structures in the district.

The estimated cost of the tower stand at 400 million euros and completion should be somewhere in 2011.
